The opening of Grand Central will coincide with the completion of Birmingham New Street station. Grand Central Birmingham will home one of the largest, 250,000 sq, full line John Lewis department stores in the country.
About 85% of the retail space in Grand Central is now taken by John Lewis, Joules, Cath Kidston, Fat Face, Jolie Papier, Monsoon Accessorize and Blott. They join the already announced Kiehls, The White Company and L’Occitane.
Many of the 60 shops, restaurants and cafes will be new to the city. Giraffe, Carluccios, Pho, Tortilla, Café Concerto, Tapas Revolution, Crepe Affaire and Square Pie will all be opening at Grand Central, with additional restaurants and cafes available on the station concourse.
Positioned directly above the new station Concourse, Grand Central will be fully integrated with the world class New Street Station becoming the heart of the City’s retail offer.
From the outside, visitors to Grand Central will be inspired by the stunning mirror-polished stainless steel façade, which envelopes the entire station and shopping centre. The walkways and restaurants of Grand Central Birmingham will be flooded with natural light from the huge glass atrium which sits high above.
