Iceland supermarket chain is ready to support distribution by its logistics chain for frozen food.

In the U.K., the Iceland supermarket chain is also involved in distributing the vaccine developed by the pharmacological giant Pfizer and biotechnology company BioNTech. The initiative to help spread the vaccine was taken by the CEO of a retailer specializing in frozen products.
“Fantastic news – Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is approved in Britain. As I told the Prime Minister last month, if it helps, we are ready to support its delivery with our logistics,” Walker commented on Twitter.
It became known that Britain was the first country to receive Pfizer and BioNTech vaccine certification. Next week, the government might start a vaccination campaign. According to the developers, it requires special storage in super-low temperatures, which can cause transportation difficulties. A prerequisite for transporting the vaccine is that the vaccine must be transported at a temperature no higher than -70 degrees Celsius. In comparison, at temperatures between 2 and 8 degrees, the product can be stored for no longer than five days.
On November 30, it became known that Pfizer and BioNTech have applied for vaccine registration with the European Medicines Agency. The use of the vaccine may begin by the end of 2020 if the Commission considers that the vaccine’s benefit exceeds the risks associated with its use. As of the second half of November, the effectiveness of the vaccine was estimated at 95%.
