The complex will have a total of 250,000 sq. feet and an IKEA store area of 70,000 sq. feet.
Sweden's IKEA is finally preparing to open its mall in San Francisco. The long-awaited opening, after numerous delays, is scheduled for spring 2023.
The furniture giant will present a unique concept not similar to the usual layout of IKEA stores worldwide. The nine-story complex called Livat will combine a furniture store with a mall, pop-up shops, vegan restaurants and meeting places. A similar concept was implemented last year in London.
"We're looking forward to opening IKEA San Francisco in late spring 2023. We are confident we can meet the needs of San Francisco residents with Ikea San Francisco and Market Street as a whole - reaching more shoppers and making IKEA more accessible," the company commented.
San Francisco has long awaited an opening in this location. The 6x6 Mall, located at 945 Market, was emptied back in 2016. And in 2022, it was announced that Ingka Group would open a mall there.
It was initially scheduled to open in 2021 and then moved to February 2022. The object's construction was delayed because it required significant work on reconstructing the building. The complex will have a total of 250,000 square feet and an IKEA store area of 70,000 square feet.
