Sky City Mall

Sky City Mall opened in September 2006 in Sofia’s Slatina district, on Kosta Lulchev Street near the former Elektronika factory, at roughly the same time Sofia’s shopping-center market was just beginning to develop beyond its first mall, City Center Sofia, which had opened earlier the same year. At roughly 27,000 to 30,000 sqm across four retail floors plus a two-level entertainment zone above, the property has grown to carry more than 120 stores.

Fantastico anchors a 3,400 sqm hypermarket on the lower ground floor, one of the chain’s most modern locations among its roughly three dozen Bulgarian stores. Mega Xtreme Bowling operates a 16-lane bowling center across the entertainment zone’s two levels, alongside arcade games, billiards and a restaurant, positioning the upper floors as a genuine leisure destination distinct from the retail floors below.

The property provides 320 parking spaces across 10,000 sqm of underground and surface parking, and sits on tram line 20 and several bus routes connecting it to central Sofia. Sky City began a major, multi-month renovation in May 2026 ahead of its 20th anniversary that September, with core tenants including the Fantastico hypermarket and entertainment zone remaining open throughout construction.

That deliberate timing, launching a comprehensive renovation to conclude right around the property’s 20th anniversary, reflects an increasingly common pattern among Bulgaria’s first generation of post-2000 shopping centers: refreshing physical space and tenant mix at the two-decade mark to stay competitive against the newer generation of Sofia malls that have opened in the years since.
