QRE Plaza

Hopewell Holdings developed QRE Plaza directly opposite the former Lee Tung Street, known locally as “Wedding Card Street” for its concentration of printing and wedding-invitation businesses before the government resumed and demolished the street in 2005-2007 as part of a separate Urban Renewal Authority project on the south side of Queen’s Road East (that site is now Lee Tung Avenue, a different development). The 25-storey building, completed in 2007, pairs office floors with a roughly 77,000 sqft retail podium and stands just under 89 metres tall.

The property has built an unusual food and lifestyle identity for a building this size: it was, for years, home to the only Fatburger location in Hong Kong outside a single Macau branch inside The Venetian, and currently carries Venchi. McLaren and Rolls-Royce both operate showrooms within the property, an unusual luxury-automotive presence for a mid-scale Wan Chai retail podium.

A first-floor pedestrian bridge spans Queen’s Road East to connect QRE Plaza directly with Hopewell Centre and Wu Chung House, tying the property into Hopewell’s wider Wan Chai portfolio rather than functioning as an isolated building, with sky gardens on the fifth floor and rooftop adding office-tenant amenity space above the retail podium.

That tenant mix, from a Fatburger location found nowhere else in the territory to supercar showrooms and imported patisserie chains, tracks the broader gentrification of this stretch of Queen’s Road East over the two decades since the wider Urban Renewal Authority project reshaped the area, a shift Hopewell’s own redevelopment on this side of the street contributed to alongside the separate Lee Tung Avenue project across the road.
