Marks & Spencer has announced opening of a new flagship shop in London.
British retailer Marks & Spencer has announced opening of a new flagship shop in London. The retail space of almost 100 thousand square feet is located in Lakeside. Investment in the start of the new flagship totaled around £20m. Marks & Spencer unveiled the shop with an updated layout and enlarged portal entrance.
November was the top month for new shop openings for the retailer. M&S is investing more than £80m in opening nine new department stores and creating more than 2,200 new jobs in the UK.
The flagship combines a market-style grocery supermarket and an extended range of clothing, homewares, perfumes and cosmetics. The shop also features its own M&S café with 140 seats.
The clothing department features men’s, women’s and children’s collections, as well as special neon-lit areas selling popular brands Per Una, Autograph, Goodmove and Jaegar.

In the refreshed cosmetics department, M&S is making an offer of popular brands including Apothecary and the new M&S Fresh Elements range of skincare products. The food supermarket is available directly from the department store car park.
“The store is an exciting investment in the future of M&S in Essex and I can’t wait for our customers to explore all the new features that the store has to offer. Along with our existing Lakeside team of over 290 colleagues, we’re really pleased to introduce over 90 new recruits to M&S Lakeside.” Dior Hudson, store manager at M&S said in a statement.
