Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake has announced the opening a new store in Ginza, Tokyo. The shopping space called Issey Miyake Ginza / 442 is located on Gasuto Street.
The concept of the mono store reflects a mix of modernity, sophistication and frivolous charm. Artist Tokujin Yoshioka designed the retail space.
“Clothes are floating in the air. A strip of aluminum wall pierces through the space. This futuristic space represents Issey Miyake’s innovative approach to clothing and its philosophy,” said Yoshioka.
Issey Miyake’s flagship store at Ginza features soaring aluminum walls, white walls, and light beige industrial-style flooring. The interior features display tables, rectangular mirrors and modest aluminum constructions that contrast nicely with the brand’s striking clothing collections.
The four-level store offers all Japanese brand’s menswear and womenswear collections, including capsule lines and collaborations. According to Yoshioka, the space, designed with sustainability, creates a minimalist yet formative and futuristic object.
'From Paris to Tokyo: a cutting-edge and creative journey' is the brand's slogan for the new location.
Designed by creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier, the store reflects their commitment to sustainability.
