Retailer Dollar General has announced the construction of two new stores in Montana. The plans were also confirmed by the Montana Department of Environmental Quality, which added the two stores to its list of construction projects.
The new openings will take place in the fall of 2023, after which the retail chain will be represented in 48 states in the continental United States. Dollar General stores are currently under construction in Columbia Falls and Eureka, Montana.
In Montana, a Dollar General store will open in Eureka, a town 60 miles northwest of Columbia Falls with a population of about 1,380. Dollar General also said it would consider other areas of the state for possible future store openings, but no additional information was provided.
Dollar General’s competitors, such as Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, already have stores in Montana. Dollar Tree has stores in 14 cities across the state, including Libby, Billings and Helena. Thus, Dollar General’s store openings in Montana will strengthen its presence in the state’s market and retail competition.
In March, Dollar General opened its first store in Mexico, expanding its operations outside the United States. Dollar General currently operates 19,294 stores under various brands across America.
