Carrefour has opened a clean cosmetics store Sources in Paris.

Product transparency is key to the concept – more than 75 disputed ingredients have been eliminated.
The first Sources store opened in the heart of the fashionable Marais district and offers a selection of 170 brands and 3400 items. A preliminary study was carried out, which resulted in a list of disputed ingredients. These included parabens and aluminum, which are widely used in cosmetic products.
“After the price, the second criterion for the buyer is the composition of the cosmetic products he purchases,” says Pascal Clouzard, director of Carrefour France.
The main filling of the shelves of the store will be organic goods. Also, there will be products of such famous brands as L’Oréal, Maybelline, Petit Marseillais, Nuxe, and Filorga. At the same time, there are products from young companies like Marlie (100% organic hair care) or Kadalys (banana-based products). Also, Sources also provides several additional services, such as hairdressing and beauty salons.
“This is a test in a new market segment. If this works, we will develop a network using a franchise model,” said Clouzard.
Now the company is looking for a place for a second store. Meanwhile, this is not the first experience of its kind. Earlier, a similar shop called “…Le drugstore Parisien” was opened by Casino group and L’Oréal company. In it, it is possible to get cosmetic goods, medicines, a small assortment of foodstuffs useful for health. Visitors can also use various services.
The supermarket features a wide selection of traditional regional products and wines.
