Sustainability-focused footwear brand Allbirds is launching sales on Amazon. The collaboration with the internet giant is part of a strategy to improve the business’s profitability.
Meeting consumers on Amazon
Allbirds officially launched sales on Amazon on November 14. The marketplace currently features the popular Tree Runners, Tree Breezers and other footwear models.
Growing distribution networks
“Many consumers opt to shop for clothing and shoes on Amazon – some who know of Allbirds, and many who don’t yet,” the company said in an emailed statement. “Our aim is to meet consumers where they are and present them with products that offer a more sustainable alternative than what’s currently in the marketplace.”
The company said it is looking to grow its distribution network. Previously, it has partnered with REI, Dick’s Sporting Goods Public Lands banner and Zalando.
Innovation in footwear
At the same time, Allbirds continues to invest in expanding its range and developing new footwear models. In particular, a vintage Courier model was launched in the summer and an updated version of the first Wool Runner sneakers premiered in November.
The transformation of Allbirds’ business followed the recorded drop in revenue. In the third quarter, the company’s revenue fell more than 20% to $57 million, while its net loss grew 25% to $32 million. The company forecasts a revenue decline from 15% to 22% in the fourth quarter.
