Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city of the state of Oklahoma. The county seat of Oklahoma County, the city ranks27th among United States cities in population. Oklahoma City features one of the largest livestock markets in the world. Located in the Frontier Country region of the state, the city's northeast section lies in an ecological region known as the Cross Timbers. Bricktown, at Sheridan and Broadway and a crossroads of renewal, has a Bass Pro Shop along with smaller retailers, restaurants, and nightclubs. The Paseo Arts District, built in 1929 as the first commercial shopping district north of downtown. Other shopping-rich districts include Stockyards City and Western Avenue.
