Bradford is the fourth largest urban area in the United Kingdom located in West Yorkshire. Bradford is a tourist destination, becoming the first UNESCO City of Film. However, Bradford has faced similar challenges to the rest of the post-industrial area of Northern England, including deindustrialisation, social unrest and economic deprivation. Bradford has seen a rise in independent businesses in Bradford city centre in the areas of North Parade, Westgate and John Street. The Kirkgate Shopping Centre is the main shopping retail facility in Bradford city centre. Forster Square Shopping Park opened in 1995 and is adjacent to the Forster Square Railway Station.
