About this store

The Dakota Watch Co. is a service and retail group that specializes in watches and accessories. It offers consumers watches in all shapes and sizes, for men, women, and children, along with a broad range of watch bands, as well as a battery replacement service. The company was first started by Albert Cooper in Cincinnati, Ohio, during 1945 as Cooper’s Fixery. The company commenced by offering a range of services, such as watch repairs and scissor sharpening.
During the 1980s it changed its main trade to the sales and repair of watches and renamed the business Cooper’s Watchworks or Cooper’s Watch World in some areas. The company was renamed again during 1999, to Dakota Watch Company. This was done in an attempt to move the Dakota brand name to the pinnacle of the watch industry, as well as to link it to the store name. It was at this time that the company started designing their brand of watches. This allowed the company to find its niche in the watch market as an innovator in Clip Watch movement. The company is managed by Albert Cooper’s sons, David and Martin Cooper. It operates 117 stores across the US, with most located in the eastern half of the country. It has retained its position as one of the biggest watch retailers in America.
