Sony expects to make it easier to buy a new console amid shortages at major retailers.

Sony has announced the opening of the first store in Europe that specializes in PlayStation 5 game consoles sales. As reported by GamesRadar, retail space under the brand PlayStation Direct appeared in Germany. Sony also plans to launch the new format stores in the UK, France, and the Benelux countries.
Experts indicate that Sony expects to facilitate the acquisition of the new console at a time when major multi-brand chains such as Best Buy, GameStop, and Target are looking to increase shipments, and online retailers are selling the PlayStation 5 at inflated prices.
For the past year, retail stores worldwide have continued to face shortages of both the PS5 and Xbox Series X because new generations of consoles have been produced with a severe drought in the chip market, high consumer demand, and a growing number of resellers.
Given the problems that PlayStation fans worldwide continue to face, Sony has strengthened its retail channels to make the console more accessible. As such, the project will allow customers to purchase the PS5 directly from the manufacturer rather than from other retailers’ inventories.
