Torun is a city in northern Poland, on the Vistula River. Its population is 203 000. Toruń is one of the oldest cities in Poland. The medieval old town of Toruń is the birthplace of the astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. In 1997 the medieval part of the city was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Although a medium-sized city, Toruń is the site of headquarters of some of the largest and most influential companies in Poland. The most important retail spaces in the city are Torun Plaza, Solaris centre, Centrum Handlowe Kometa, Galeria Copernicus, Centrum Handlowe Bielawy and Centrum Handlowe Arpol.
