A new Very.co.uk iPhone app has been launched by Shop Direct, which will offer a more integrated system to their customers.
The ‘search and browse’ facility has been improved to allow for quicker, smoother navigation of the multitude of brands currently available on Very. It is possible for customers to track orders, as well as make payments whilst on the move. New recognition technology allows consumers to photograph items they are interested in and search for something similar within the brand range.
Shoppers have provided feedback which indicates that they appreciate the secure account environment offered by apps. They are easily able to check their balance and pay their account with a simple click.
This is the group’s pilot transactional shopping app and they intend boosting its mobile facilities further in the future. Mobile has become its most effective sales channel and was responsible for 58% of its online sales over the Christmas period.
The new app has been launched on iOS, but Shop Direct intends rolling the application out to Android later during the year. Promotion has begun on the launch of the app to existing customers and potential customers will be targeted over the coming months.
Shop Direct is the fourth largest online retailer in the UK and enjoys annual sales in excess of £1.7bn. Very.co.uk is a digital department store, which was introduced during 2009 and currently receives in excess of one million visits per day.
