Located in the historic center of the "Eternal City" in Montecitorio Square.
Starbucks announced opening the first coffee shop in Rome - located in the historic center of the "Eternal City" in Montecitorio Square. The exclusive partner of the American giant in chain development in Italy is the company Percassi.
The new coffee shop is the 25th in Starbucks' Italian portfolio. By the end of May, the company also plans to open two new stores in Termini station, on the underground level and the outdoor terrace, creating 45 new jobs.
Starbucks officially entered the Italian market in 2018 with the opening of the Starbucks Reserve Roastery premium coffee shop in Milan. By the end of 2023, the U.S. company expects to grow the chain in the local market to 36 stores.
Lazio is a very important region for Starbucks
"We are thrilled to open our first store in the center of Rome, with even more exciting plans to come for the capital. The openingis the first in a series of wonderful surprises for the city," Matteo Morandi, CEO of Percassi Retail, comments. "Lazio is a very important region for Starbucks, and we celebrated our first opening in the province of Caserta last month, reaffirming our long-term commitment to continued growth in Italy."The new two-story coffee shop in Montecitorio has a total area of 200 square meters. The establishment overlooks the Chamber of Deputies and has a seating capacity of 80. The interior of the coffee house uses shades referring to the Montecitorio square.
The first floor is the liveliest and most dynamic area, made of travertine marble and tuff, typical of traditional Roman buildings. Customers can order their favorite dishes and drinks to be enjoyed on the store floor in comfortable armchairs surrounded by the artwork on the walls. The upper floor is decorated in a more muted color scheme, offering a quieter space.
Younger generations love Starbucks
"Coffee culture is very deep-rooted in Rome, with espresso being the most popular beverage," comments Vincenzo Catrambone, General Manager of Starbucks Italy. "Even in Starbucks stores in Italy, the most bought drink is espresso, while younger generations love Starbucks cold beverages and iced coffee. We are always working to create unique food and beverage proposals for our Italian customers during the seasons throughout the year, to continue to meet their needs and amaze them."The menu at the new Starbucks includes traditional espresso-based drinks and the new Oleato line with olive oil. It was first introduced in Italy in February of this year and later also appeared in the U.S., U.K. and Japan. New items from the recently introduced summer menu will also be available.
