Nike sued the Canadian brand Lululemon, demanding compensation for losses incurred for patent infringement. The sports giant claimed that Lululemon infringed by selling four models of shoes - Chargefeel Mid, Chargefeel Low, Blissfeel and Strongfeel.
A complaint was filed in federal court in Manhattan. The plaintiff alleges that the competitor's actions resulted in "economic damage and irreparable loss."
The case states that the patent claims relate to the textile and knit elements used in the manufacture and operation of athletic shoes. The amount of the claims was not disclosed.
Lululemon has already responded to Nike's lawsuit filing and stated that the claims are without merit. Lululemon released its first-ever Blissfeel running shoes last spring. Later, it also created the Chargefeel workout model.
Legal battles have happened in the history of the relationship between the two companies before. In early 2022, Nike sued Lululemon, accusing the competitor of infringing six patents on its Mirror home fitness device. The company said it invented a similar device and filed its patent application in 1983.
