The owner of Hammerson shopping malls in partnership with technology company Red Ant announced the launch of a new application, "Crowd Checker."

Shopping center owner Hammerson, in partnership with technology company Red Ant, has announced the launch of a new app, "Crowd Checker," to check the current workload of shopping centers. The developer expects to return customers who are concerned about their safety in crowded areas to the malls.

The application can analyze and provide information in "live" mode about how busy the shopping center is, and at what hours the flow of visitors is favorable for shopping, reports the portal Internet Retailing.

The data was first generated from shopping centers Brent Cross, Cabot Circus, and Westquay in the UK and Les Terrasses du Port - in France. But shortly, Hammerson expects to implement the new service in all its facilities. At the same time, the company is demonstrating to customers other security measures, including using social distance signs and installing stations with hand sanitizers.

"We know that some customers are still nervous about visiting their favorite stores and want to avoid crowding. Crowd Checker allows customers to check how popular each facility is in real-time. Not only does it allow customers to avoid queues, but it also helps us manage traffic and ensure safe visits to our malls," commented Catherine Malloch, head of the customer service at Hammerson.
