McDonald's announced the start of the test sales of a new burger with crispy chicken. Crispy Chicken Sandwich is now available in restaurants in Houston and Knoxville, Tennessee. The new sandwich is based on fried chicken fillets, fried potato buns, with butter and pickles. The deluxe version also includes tomatoes, salad leaves, and mayonnaise.

"Houston. Knoxville. Tomorrow's lunch? No beef" - this was the post that announced the release of the new product on the official McDonald's Twitter page. According to the company's representative, burger testing will take place from December 2 to January 26. Already in 2020, new sandwiches may appear in the regular menu of McDonald's restaurants across the country.

It is reported that the initiators for the launch of a new sandwich on the menu were the franchisees of McDonald's. The National Association believes that it is the chicken burger that should become their main priority against the background of growing competition with the fast-food chain Chick-fil-A, specializing in chicken meat sandwiches. For the first time, the need to launch a new product in the menu was announced back in 2018.

McDonald's menu, which traditionally relies on beef burgers, invariably includes McChiken and Chicken McNuggets. In the autumn of 2019, the company also introduced Spicy BBQ Chicken Sandwich for a limited time. But the most significant "chicken" campaign of McDonald's was held in 2018 when more than 160 restaurants in the state of Washington served a sandwich Ultimate Chicken Sandwich. 

Recently, the demand for chicken sandwiches has been growing in the U.S., while the number of visits to fast-food restaurants is gradually decreasing. Brands International's fast-food chain Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen launched its new product in August and then in November. Created following the example of Chick-fil-A, the sandwich has become so popular that the chain has reported the best selling quarter in the last twenty years. On the other hand, the right choice of chicken-based sandwich allowed Chick-fil-A to become the third restaurant chain in the U.S., which tripled its sales in the last ten years, in terms of revenue in 2018 was second only to McDonald's and Starbucks.
