Gucci became one of the first luxury brands to open in the city.
Gucci fashion house opened a flagship store in downtown Detroit. The 325 sq.m store on Library Street features men's and women's clothing, accessories, jewelry and watches, as well as an exclusive line of Gucci Décor.
The new store, opened in a historic building, keeps the spirit of the fashion house and welcomes customers with geometric patterns on the façade and unusual interior design with monochrome floors, glass tiles and unique drawings.
Gucci Detroit opens in line with the brand's sustainability strategy. The store is equipped with LEDs to improve energy efficiency and is LEED certified.
To celebrate the opening of the new store, local poet Jessica Care Moore created an original poem embodying the brand's mission in Detroit. One of the stanzas was painted on the front of the store.
Gucci has been running the Changemakers program in North America since 2019. One of the cities targeted for development of the program is Detroit. The fashion house has also commissioned "Black to Techno" film, which celebrates the musical style as Detroit's native art form. Gucci is also planning an Off Grid collection. It will include baseball caps, backpacks and belts that will be sold exclusively in Detroit.
