Ingka Centres has announced the start of a project to build the first meeting place in India.
Ingka Centres has announced the start of a project to build the first IKEA anchored meeting place in India. The multifunctional complex with a full-size IKEA store will open in Gurugram, a city southwest of New Delhi.
The total area of the meeting place will be about 159 000 sq. metres. The nine floors of the complex will feature shopping galleries, cafes and restaurants, office space, as well as educational and entertainment venues. The mall will have stores of both international brands and local retailers. The center will also include areas for festive events and activities, landscape garden on the roof, an amphitheater and indoor winter garden.
The investment in the construction of the complex will amount to about 400 million euros. Ingka Centres emphasizes that the facility will be the newest landmark of Gurugram.
About 2500 new jobs will be created with the opening of the center. The mall will be built using green building technology and will receive LEED Gold certification. It is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2025. With IKEA as the anchor tenant, it is expected to attract about 20 million visitors a year.
The area of IKEA store will be 28,000 square meters, and its assortment - more than 9 thousand items. There will be a children's playground, a Swedish restaurant and a bistro in the shopping area.
