Westfield Garden State Plaza, New Jersey, has made the decision to install "digital storefronts" to promote a new section of the centre
They have installed three massive screens, each measuring around 2.1 by 1.1 metres. The screens offer viewing in portrait or landscape mode and can be used to obtain information, or as an advertising method for the tenants in the mall. The development of the screens was achieved with the help of surveys conducted with customers. The screens are currently being used for promotion purposes only, but it is envisaged that it will eventually include information about item availability within the stores.
The kiosks will be placed in the middle of wide walkways which are normally seen as useless space. Several tenants will be able to use it for advertising and customers will be drawn to it because of the technical innovation.
This new technology should become available to others and may be seen across the country in the near future.
