The first-ever 365 by Whole Foods Market opened for business on May 25 in Silver Spring, CA.
The new concept aims to transform the grocery shopping experience, and judging by the looks of the new Silver Spring store, they may very well be on their way.The 28,000 square foot store is located at 2520 Glendale Blvd. it’s a smaller store concept than a traditional Whole Foods store, but the company is betting big on the concept catching on, and has 12 more in the pipeline or ready to open over the next two years across the United States.
One of the store’s taglines is a goal to “Make Healthy Living Easy. Every Day. For Everybody.” The store accomplishes that mission via a wealth of healthy options, all of which are offered in a tech-friendly environment at a lower price point than customers of the high-end grocer are typically accustomed to.
Highlights of the 365 by Whole Foods Market include the expansive grab-and-go section that offers a wide array of prepared food options. In fact, it’s pretty safe to say that it’ll take a while – even for regular customers – for guests to try everything once. The products are held to the same quality standards that one would expect from a Whole Foods offering, and include quinoa bowls, soups, pizzas, gourmet hot dogs and pizzas, as well as everyday items like rice and beans, and seasonal salads.
Additionally, 365 offers up what they refer to as “Friends of 365,” which consists of offerings from Allegro Coffee craft brew bar, teaBOT, and by. CHLOE, which features a vegan menu with seating for 38 guests and a communal dining counter. The “Friends of 365” will likely attract quite a crowd on their own, but there are plenty of additional features that will quickly make this smaller-space concept a local hotspot.
While smaller than a traditional Whole Foods, customers still have plenty to choose from for their grocery shopping, with extensive offerings in all of the major categories: vegetables and produce, meat and seafood, pantry, beverage, and dairy and chilled items. The store offers up a digital rewards program, sure to be a hit with the sought-after millennial crowd, and features a design that can simply be described as convenient and efficient.
Two more 365 stores are scheduled to open soon, starting with a location in Lake Oswego, Oregon this July. In September, the concept makes its way to Bellevue, Washington with a new store in Bellevue Square.
