The company intends to install charging stations at all centers in Germany by the end of 2018.
ECE will take into operation new charging stations at the parking garages of three ECE centers at the beginning of 2018. These are Promenaden Hauptbahnhof Leipzig, AlleeCenter Leipzig, and Nova Eventis Halle/Leipzig. Before these locations, three charging points had been installed at newly-opened Loom shopping center in October. During the year, ECE considerably extended its network of charging stations. So far, 150 charging stations at approximately 30 centers across the country have been made available for customers using electric vehicles.
As part of its sustainability strategy, the company supports explicitly projects which promote new mobility concepts. To ensure that electromobility services contribute effectively to climate protection, they have to be installed all over the country and have to be made easily available. ECE currently provides parking spaces with charging points for electric cars and bicycles with green electricity in 18 cities in Germany. The company intends to install charging stations for emission-free vehicles at all centers in Germany by the end of 2018. All centers in Germany, the company headquarters, and the electric charging stations already use green electricity from certified electric utility companies.
Mobility and accessibility are critical elements of the environmental and economic sustainability aspects. Already today, these issues have become part of the certification requirements for new and existing real estate properties. ECE intends to support visitors and center employees, who use electric battery vehicles to come to the centers, with specific services and thus promote the use of electronic cars. ECE has been continuously installing a charging infrastructure for electric vehicles on the parking lots of shopping centers for several years. Based on this experience, the company developed an “Electromobility” manual in 2017. It describes in which way electromobility services can be implemented at shopping centers.
ECE supports the sustainable and flexible mobility of its staff with various services. Only recently, the company made available an electric-carsharing scheme at its headquarters, which is located in the Hamburg district of Poppenbüttel. During a test period, staff can use a climate-friendly and emission-free BMW i3 for business trips. Also, ECE intends to reduce the number of expensive taxi rides to business partners in Hamburg and promote the innovative technology of electric cars among its staff and help alleviate any concerns about it.
