Diesel has announced a new phase of its For Responsible Living sustainability initiative, Diesel Library.
Diesel and its creative director, Glenn Martens, have announced a new phase of Diesel's "For Responsible Living" sustainability initiative, the Diesel Library.
The Diesel Library spring/summer 2022 collection will include unisex denim pieces. In the future, the collection will consist of a wide range of always-relevant and long-lasting denim products (including pants, jackets, tops, skirts, and more) based on made-to-stay technology, with 50 percent of the entire denim collection always staying current. Martens' main goal is to update the essential pieces of each brand category, so he decided to start with the most versatile and democratic fabric of all: denim.
"We created an image featuring over 3,000 pairs of Diesel jeans from unsold goods. For the past few months, we've been collecting denim pants, unused fabric, and various denim products worldwide. We've collected everything from storefront samples to scraps and pieces from old collections and recycled garments. All of this underscores the new Diesel Library concept, which focuses on sustainability, responsibility, and, most importantly, durability," the company says.
With the launch of the Diesel Library, Diesel is reinforcing its commitment to innovation and exploring new manufacturing techniques to create long-lasting, high-quality denim products. As a result, the Diesel Library will feature iconic, essential pieces conceived to outlast trends and last for years to come; the "total look" will be the foundation of this always-relevant collection.
Materials, detergents, and processing agents will be used to produce these items, making efficient and responsible use of natural resources.
The materials used for the new collection have a low environmental impact and are organic and recycled fabrics.
Processing is carried out using innovative technologies that significantly reduce the use of water and chemicals.
Finishes: chrome-free leather patches; metal buttons - no electroplating; inner labels - from recycled materials; cellulose finishes, including hangers and patches, are made from FSC-certified materials.
The above characteristics will be tracked and transmitted via a QR code printed on a hanger attached to each Diesel Library item. The company provides a digital passport for each entity, which guarantees customers access to a dedicated web page to learn more about each specific product.
Ultimately, the Diesel Library also marks a change in how Diesel will produce its denim collections in the future. As a result, a new identity and new branding attributes will be created.
The first Diesel Library collection will be unveiled during the Glenn Martens premiere show in June 2021. The outfit will be available in select Diesel stores worldwide, on diesel.com, and in multi-brand stores worldwide starting in November 2021.
