Visitors to the center can take free tests and have a virtual consultation with medical staff.
The next stage of opening stores in American Dream was scheduled for March 19, but the coronavirus pandemic has broken all plans. Now a COVID-19 testing center has been opened in the empty premises.
Construction of American Dream began back in 2004. Its opening was divided into four phases. The long-awaited opening of DreamWorks Water Park was scheduled for March 19, 2020, as well as several fashion retailers, including H&M, Zara, Old Navy, and Uniqlo. But the Coronavirus Pandemic made adjustments to its plans, and the malls had to close their doors to visitors, and the next stage of the opening was postponed indefinitely.
The empty spaces were decided to be used to help the whole community. A coronavirus testing center was opened in conjunction with Hackensack Meridian Health. The Coronavirus Testing Centre is primarily aimed at health workers, police officers, and first responders. Ordinary people can go to the center and schedule a virtual consultation with health workers. And only if their condition meets specific criteria can they also be assigned testing time. The first tests have already been conducted at the center since April 13. The test center will operate for as long as the situation requires it.
The construction of American Dream is estimated at $5 billion. The total area of commercial spaces is more than 300 thousand square meters. As it was reported in January 2020, about 90% of the regions have already been leased out to retailers. But now the terms of opening the entertainment and retail part of the mall have been postponed, and shortly I will hardly give exact dates.
