Century 21 Opens 1st Pop-Up Shop In LA

The company recently opened up its first pop-up shop in Los Angeles.

Retail chain Century 21 has been a staple of the northeastern United States for more than 50 years, but the department store that’s known a wealth of offerings from designer brands at fantastic prices is expanding its horizons. As Racked reports, the company recently opened up its first pop-up shop in Los Angeles. 

Century 21 certainly made a splash with its first offering in LA. This is not your run of the mill pop-up store, but rather one that slides right into one of the area’s iconic shopping destinations at Santa Monica Place. An 8,000 square foot, two-story space that was previously occupied by Kitson’s has been transformed into something that’s truly stunning, and it will host a revolving stream of retailers over the next year.  



In a nutshell, the store is basically an innovative retail experience that brings together the worlds of online and offline with the assistance of WithMe, a company that has pioneered a smart, interactive concept that just may be part of the wave of the future for the retail experience. There are interactive features built within the store, including interactive changing room mirrors, and gigantic pixel walls that display accessories. 

Additionally, there are 15 digital concierge stations located throughout the store. Shoppers will be able to receive assistance in placing in-store orders for home delivery. Up on the second floor of this innovative hub is a VR station, which actually allows visitors the the ability to craft a virtual dress form, among other capabilities. 

For Century 21, the pop-up shop will be stocked with the brands that shoppers have grown accustomed to at one of the retailer’s locations, including Rag & Bone, Ramy Brook, Letarte, Michael Kors, Penguin, Slate & Stone and Psychobunny. The retailer is quite well-known on the East Coast, and is considered a leader in the world of high-end off-price fashion retail. 

Headquartered in Manhattan, Century 21 has stores in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, with its largest store just across the street from the World Trade Center in lower Manhattan. This Fall, Century 21 will be opening its first location in Florida at Sawgrass Mills in Sunrise. 

This is certainly a great way for Century 21 to make a splash on the West Coast, and it’ll be interesting to see if their time in this futuristic concept leads to the retailer carving out a permanent physical footprint in Los Angeles.
