Südring Center

Südring Center is a retail park in Rangsdorf, Brandenburg, south of Berlin on the A10 motorway ring, serving the southern Berlin metropolitan fringe and the northern Fläming communities between Berlin and the former East-West German border corridor. The park provides large-format retail for the car-dependent southern Berlin exurban catchment.

Rangsdorf is a municipality of approximately 10,000 in the Teltow-Fläming district of Brandenburg, located along the A10 motorway ring that encircles Berlin at approximately 25 kilometres from the city centre. The former Rangsdorf airfield, used in the GDR era, and the adjacent Rangsdorf Lake nature area create the geographic context for a community positioned at the boundary between the Berlin suburban belt and the rural Fläming landscape south of the capital. Südring Center’s retail park format serves the car-dependent southern Berlin fringe catchment with food retail, DIY, and general merchandise in a large-format environment. The A10 motorway position provides access from both the Berlin ring and the B96 regional road toward Luckenwalde and Jüterbog.

Rangsdorf’s 10,000 residents provide a small immediate base, supplemented by the southern Berlin metropolitan communities of Teltow, Mahlow, and the Blankenfelde-Mahlow corridor. The A10 motorway ring provides access from the entire Berlin southern metropolitan belt. The B96 regional road connects toward the Fläming communities south of Berlin.

Südring Center serves the large-format retail gap for the southern Berlin exurban corridor — a motorway-ring-adjacent retail park whose commercial function is built on the intersection of the Berlin metropolitan consumer catchment and the rural Fläming communities for whom the A10 ring provides the most practical access to large-format retail that the small-town retail provision of the Brandenburg Fläming landscape does not independently sustain.
