About this mall

Reem Mall opened on 29 May 2024 on Reem Island in Abu Dhabi with 186,000 sqm of gross leasable area, 400+ retail stores, and 80 food and beverage outlets, representing a total investment of $1.3 billion. Al Farwaniya Property Developments, a subsidiary of Agility Group, developed and operates the property as the principal commercial anchor of Reem Island’s rapidly expanding residential community 650 metres from the Abu Dhabi mainland.

The most technically distinctive elements set Reem Mall apart from the existing Abu Dhabi super-regional register. Snow Abu Dhabi at 9,732 sqm is the largest indoor snow park in the country and the second largest in the region. VOX Cinemas operates the multiplex with private viewing rooms, the first VOX property in the UAE to offer this format. Bloomingdale’s Beauty launched its world-first standalone location here, a format not available anywhere else globally. The Eataly Italian food marketplace, Carrefour hypermarket, and a Homecentre flagship anchor the daily-use retail base. The facility also integrates a Smart Car Finder app allowing guests to locate parked vehicles across the 6,400-space parking facility by smartphone, an operational technology application not yet standard at other Gulf malls.

Reem Island has developed into one of Abu Dhabi’s most active residential markets with more than 15,000 units at various stages of completion, and the community’s relative distance from the established retail clusters on the Corniche and Yas Island created the commercial gap that Reem Mall fills. The causeway bridges connecting Reem Island to the Abu Dhabi mainland carry the majority of the catchment. Abu Dhabi’s city population of approximately 1.5 million and the broader Emirate population of 3.5 million constitute the regional draw.

Al Farwaniya built Reem Mall as its flagship UAE retail investment and opened it into a competitive Abu Dhabi market where Al Maryah Galleria and Yas Mall are established. The positioning argument is recency and innovation, the newest facilities, the formats that don’t exist elsewhere, and the Snow Abu Dhabi leisure anchor that establishes a family-entertainment competitive moat similar to Ski Dubai’s role at Mall of the Emirates.
