Rathaus-Center Dessau

Rathaus-Center Dessau opened in the city centre of Dessau-Roßlau, Saxony-Anhalt, at Kavalierstraße adjacent to the historic Rathaus (city hall), with approximately 30,000 sqm of gross leasable area as the principal enclosed retail destination for the Bauhaus city and the surrounding Dessau-Roßlau metropolitan area. The centre is owned by Deutsche EuroShop and managed by ECE Projektmanagement.

Dessau is internationally known as the home of the Bauhaus school of design, architecture, and art from 1925 to 1932 — the period when Walter Gropius’s Bauhaus building and the Masters’ Houses were built, both now UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The city of approximately 80,000 (following the merger with Roßlau in 2007) serves as the commercial centre for the Anhalt region whose post-reunification demographic contraction reflects the broader pattern of smaller East German cities. Rathaus-Center provides H&M and mainstream fashion retail for Dessau’s resident catchment.
