June Saratov

Regiony Group, a Moscow-based holding that has built shopping centers under the June name across more than half a dozen Russian regions, from Saint Petersburg to Cherepovets to Ufa, opened June Saratov in 2014 at the intersection of Chernyshevsky and Bolshaya Gornaya streets, in a densely populated part of the city with a catchment the developer estimated at close to a million people.

At roughly 76,500 sqm total, with about 40,600 sqm of leasable retail space across three levels, June Saratov runs a grocery supermarket (the original O’Key hypermarket has since been replaced by a Perekrestok), an electronics hypermarket and a children’s goods hypermarket as its primary anchors, alongside a multi-screen cinema and a 2,000-space parking structure. Zolla, New Yorker and Sportmaster carry the specialty tenant mix.

The June name itself traces back to a series of projects Regiony Group pursued across multiple regional cities simultaneously in the mid-to-late 2000s, with contracts signed for centers in Penza, Saratov and Engels around the same period; not every planned June project reached completion, and Saratov’s own path to opening included an earlier, ultimately abandoned attempt to build in a different part of the city before the current site was secured.

That regional-chain model, one developer building broadly similar June-branded centers across multiple mid-size Russian cities, gives June Saratov a tenant mix and format that closely mirrors its sister properties in other cities rather than a locally bespoke concept. Regiony Group’s finances collapsed under debt in 2021, and the bulk of its June portfolio, including its Ufa, Cherepovets, Krasnoyarsk, St. Petersburg and Mytishchi properties, passed to Sberbank Capital that year; whether Saratov specifically was part of that same transfer isn’t confirmed by the sourcing I found, so the property’s current ownership shouldn’t be assumed to still be Regiony Group without checking further.
