The 48.000 sqm large shopping mall “Das Schloss” (The Castle in English) opened in 2006. It comprises more than hundred shops and services arranged over four floors. Highly competitive specialist superstores, specialist smaller retailers and a wide choice of restaurants and cafés offer shopping fun on a large scale. A wide choice of includes, leading national and international shops as well as regional specialists can be found on the mall’s offer. Many of the major European fashion outlets including H&M, S. Oliver, New Yorker, Esprit and United Colors of Benetton are located on the ground floor. For electronics, there is a large Media Markt and Conrad on the 3rd and 4th floors.
“Das Schloss” public library can be found on the third floor in the mall. Besides books, audio books and magazines it offers free wireless local area network. Events like exhibitions, concerts and saisonal markets are also held in the mall on regular basis.
The shopping mall “Das Schloss” (the castle) is situated in the south west of Berlin, right in the shopping area around Schlossstraße street in Steglitz district.
To reach Das Schloss with public transport, take the S-Bahn (S1) or U-Bahn (U9) to station “Rathaus Steglitz”. Arriving by car is also no problem as the shopping center has a 650 car parking lot.
The mall distinguishes itself from others by a modern projection at the ceiling. The pseudo-gothic city hall is enclosed in a façade influenced by department stores of the 19th century and has created a new definition to the Berlin skyline. The inner walkways of the shopping centre are illuminated using selux Downlights, while a high-tech projection to the roof generates impressions of day and night, sun and clouds, outer space and lowland plains.
