Belle Étoile

Belle Étoile is the largest shopping centre in Luxembourg and Cactus Group’s flagship retail asset, opened in 1974 in Bertrange along the A6 motorway corridor west of Luxembourg City. The 50,000-sqm super-regional centre houses approximately 100 stores anchored by the Cactus hypermarket and surrounding fashion volume, anchoring the Grand Duchy retail map between Luxembourg City and the Belgian border seven kilometres further west.

The format combines the Cactus hypermarket on the lower level with two retail floors of fashion and lifestyle volume above, paired with a substantial dining cluster, a multiplex cinema, and family entertainment categories. International vertical apparel chains, Luxembourg specialty retailers, and Belgian and French brands populate the tenant lineup, with the depth of fashion and home goods concentration tracking among the strongest of any single retail asset across the Grand Duchy.

The catchment is structurally privileged by Luxembourg’s exceptionally high purchasing power per capita and the cross-border traffic from the Belgian, French, and German communities within 30-minute drives. The Belgian border population around Arlon and the French border catchment around Thionville and Metz add cross-border weekly retail volume that pushes Belle Étoile’s effective trade area well beyond the Luxembourg national resident demographic.

Cactus Group operates the property as part of its broader Luxembourg retail platform that combines hypermarket operations, a portfolio of smaller convenience stores, and the Belle Étoile flagship. The asset’s competitive position within the Grand Duchy retail map is the dominant cross-border super-regional, complemented by the smaller City Concorde down the road and the urban Auchan Kirchberg in the city financial district.
