French fashion presented a giant flagship-format store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City.
French fashion house Hermes has opened a giant flagship-format store on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The 1,900-square-foot monostore opened its doors at the intersection of Madison Avenue and 63rd Street near Central Park.
Conceived as “The expression of Hermes in New York,” the flagship replaces the French brand’s former store, which had operated literally across the street from the new location since 2000.
The flagship is located in two combined buildings, one of which is listed as a monument of architecture. According to the design concept, the store premises smoothly flow into each other.
Especially to celebrate the opening of the new store in New York Hermes created several new bags, as well as a watch, jukebox and bicycle with the monostore address engraved on it. The new retail space will also feature 5 specially invited craftsmen from France who will bring leather ideas to life, as well as work with watches and jewelry.
Hermes interior makes extensive use of natural motifs – fiberglass tree roots and branches, natural light, as well as jacquard wall coverings, in the creation of which the artist Grete Sorensen participated.
