The project in San Jose will take between 10 and 30 years to implement.

Google has received approval from authorities for a megaproject in San Jose, the third-largest city in California. The IT giant plans to build the Downtown West Google campus in the city center on a 33-hectare site, Inc. Russia.
According to the current concept, the campus will be the largest for Google: according to the present concept, it will include more than 4 thousand residential units, as well as about 680,000 square meters of office real estate, which will accommodate 20,000 employees of the corporation.
In addition, Downtown West Google will include hotels with 300 rooms and 800 residences; the company designed an area to host corporate guests of the company. Residential spaces and public spaces and stores, entertainment operators, and restaurants will occupy up to half of the campus.
Construction of the megaproject could begin in 2020. Google expects the campus to be fully developed within 10 to 30 years. The company took about four years to plan and design the project and obtain the necessary approvals from the authorities. By developing infrastructure, including the construction of parks and monuments of culture and history, the corporation will spend about $1 billion in investments. Another half a billion will have to be paid as fees.
