All non-food stores and catering facilities in Germany will remain closed through March 7.

The authorities of the federal republic of Germany have decided to extend the nationwide quarantine on the second wave of the virus’s background until March 7, 2021. Thus, the strict lockdown introduced in the country starting November 2 will be in force for at least four months.
“The third wave is outlined, we have to fight it … Last year we could not foresee the development of mutations of the virus, we received the first report on these mutations … We know that these mutations are a reality and there are more and more of them. The question is how quickly their number will increase,” commented Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany.
It is noted that until March 7, all non-food stores and catering companies will be closed in Germany, which can only work for delivery and take-away. Schoolchildren will continue to study remotely. Masks will remain mandatory in all public places. The authorities do not rule out the possibility of opening beauty salons, museums, and exhibition halls from March 1 if the epidemiological situation improves.
To date, the total number of ill people in Germany is estimated at more than 2.3 million. Since December 2020, the authorities of the republic have been conducting a large-scale vaccination campaign. According to official data, more than 3.2 million people have already been vaccinated.
