Domino’s announced the launch of a new service Pinpoint Delivery.
Domino’s announced the launch of a new service Pinpoint Delivery – now the service can be used by customers who do not have a standard address. The company offers pizza delivery to parks, beaches and other specific locations. Customers can track the delivery, get the courier’s GPS coordinates, and be notified about the delivery progress.
“No address? No problem,” said Christopher Thomas-Moore, Domino’s senior vice president and chief digital officer. “Domino’s is proud to be the first quick-service restaurant brand in the U.S. to deliver food to customers with the drop of a pin.”
The service went live at all Domino’s restaurants in early June in test mode, receiving positive feedback fr om customers and delivery people.
“A pop-up window on the app lets customers know they have four minutes to meet their driver and retrieve their order at the designated pickup spot” near wh ere they placed the order, Domino’s spokesperson Danielle Bulger told CNBC.
In Australia, a similar “point-to-point” pizza delivery service went live back in 2017. Pinpoint Delivery has only now made its way to the U.S. Within a week, its stock rose more than 8 percent.
Today, 80% of the company’s revenue comes from online and mobile app orders. Domino’s is expanding its technology capabilities after a sales slump during the pandemic. Earlier, it launched robotic pizza delivery, and in early 2023 it integrated voice ordering through Apple technology.
