The Safe Queue app will allow customers to register their place in line and go on their business with comfort.
Social distancing and queues to stores are not very compatible concepts. And for many customers who are just leaving quarantine, such as close contact with a large number of people may not be too comfortable, because not all strangers keep the distance.
The solution to this problem and dedicated their work to the creators of the Safe Queue, which allows stores to manage a virtual queue. The application can determine the location of customers within about 300 meters from it, using GPS.
Thus, it is not even necessary to go very close to the store to take your turn. Customers simply select a point of sale in the application and enter their name – they are automatically assigned a number in the virtual queue. Then the visitor can wait in the car or take a walk nearby. When the line begins to approach, the app will inform you about it, and the customer can come to the store. To access the store, the visitor shows the application with a QR code on the smartphone.
The main difference between Safe Queue and already existing solutions, which, for example, regulate the flow of waiting tables in restaurants and perform similar functions, is the lack of need to register. The application is completely anonymous and can be used by anyone located near the point of sale.
Safe Queue is one of the winners of the IBM Call for Code Global Challenge. IBM is currently helping its developer Dave Chura to complete the process of registering the application with the App Store and Google Play. The Safe Queue will then be made freely available. The developer assures that the use will be free for the customers.
