TikTok and Walmart have announced a partnership that will feature a live online broadcast. This event will last for one hour. During it, viewers will purchase various fashion items seen online directly on the TikTok platform without switching to another app or website. Shoppers are promised that after the broadcast is over, they will still be able to purchase the products featured, requiring them to visit Walmart’s TikTok page.
It is an excellent way for Walmart to connect with a new audience, mostly young people, and find more modern ways to interact with shoppers and work their way into the online space. When offline commerce is experiencing significant challenges, even a traditional supermarket chain like Walmart has to learn how to interact with shoppers online. Having a convenient online shopping platform and communicating with customers online has become a critical strategic objective for all major retailers.
The online webcast will take place on December 18 and will be the first of its kind to be held in the United States by TikTok. Similar shopping events will continue with other partners soon. Live events with shopping opportunities are trendy in the Asian region. Still, for other countries, including the U.S., this approach is innovation, and this niche is not yet occupied.
