Japanese company Fast Retailing Co., which runs the retail business of Asia’s largest fashion retailer Uniqlo, has created a VR-store. The digital space references the brand’s famous Uniqlo Tokyo flagship store in the Chuo Ward neighborhood.

The unique Uniqlo virtual store will be open until the end of October 2022 as an experiment, the company said. As part of the project, the retailer offers its customers to make online purchases by “walking around” a physical store using a 360-degree camera.

When selecting products from Uniqlo’s range, users of VR-space get access to products and information directly from the store. 45 popular products from the men’s, women’s and children’s fall-winter collections are available for purchase in the digital space. For some products, videos with the history of their creation and other information were recorded specifically for the VR store.

“We plan to further strengthen the integration of our real stores and online stores,” said Takao Kuwahara, a senior executive officer at Uniqlo, noting that the next virtual stores may open in New York, London and Paris.
