Carphone Warehouse was started by Sir Charles Dunstone and Julian Brownlie in 1989. This was the time when mobile phones were bulky and could not be carried in the pocket, hence the name “car phones.” The company was launched in Dunstone’s rented apartment on Marylebone Road, and in four years’ time, the company had 20 stores.
The Carphone Warehouse online portal still offers some of the hottest mobile phone deals in the market. This has been one of the store’s high points, and it continues to be a leader in the mobile retailer market.
