American shoppers will not immediately return to retail stores after receiving the Coronavirus vaccine, according to a study conducted by analytics platform First Insight.
Retailers may feel relieved after shoppers return to regular stores after the mass vaccination. Customer opinion surveys, however, suggest the opposite. There is a lack of confidence among shoppers regarding the safety of shopping. It is also challenging for them to return to pre-pandemic retail shopping levels because they are unsure of their financial situation.
Approximately 40% of those surveyed intend to shop at physical stores less often after vaccination. In addition, 44% of respondents do not intend to visit more physical footwear stores. In cosmetics stores, the figure was 45%, in luxury goods stores, it was 41%, and in electronics stores, it was 43%.
In the meantime, 53% of respondents plan on wearing protective masks after vaccination. As a result of the spike in Covid-19 diseases, 60% of respondents are refraining from shopping at physical stores for now.
