The move was an attempt by the fast-food chain to win back favor with customers after declining sales.
Starting in mid-July, Subway restaurants will see the most significant menu change in the chain’s history. To improve the quality of its offerings and to keep up with modern culinary trends, the chain will offer customers a range of new bread recipes, including multi-grain and Italian-style, as well as brand fresh toppings for its famous sandwiches.
In addition to new items on the menu, the network will also “work” on dishes already familiar to customers. For example, turkey and ham sandwiches will now be sliced thinner, and bacon will be pre-smoked. A couple of forgotten dishes that once delighted diners, like spit-roasted chicken and roast beef, will also return to the menu.
The restaurant chain has faced steadily declining sales in recent years due to growing competition in the market. Its menu innovations are designed to spur customer interest and attract a new generation of sandwich lovers to the restaurant. The company wants to emphasize that its offerings are in line with a healthy lifestyle and that customers can get a dish that fits into a healthy diet for a small amount of money. In addition, the company is also working to improve the convenience of its app, through which customers can place orders for delivery.
To celebrate the most significant menu update in the chain’s history, Subway will hold a special promotion. But on July 13, between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., thousands of places will give away sandwiches free, giving away about a million meals. So customers will be able to try new items and find out about the menu update.
