Phone 4u is one of the UK’s largest independent mobile phone retailer. The company is part of the 4u Group based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. Since its beginning in 1996, the company has expanded rapidly and currently has over 600 stores located in the United Kingdom.
The company was founded by brothers John Caudwell and Brian Caudwell as Midlands Mobile Phones in 1987. The company primarily focused on the wholesale distribution of mobile phones and became the Caudwell Group with the high street retail arm named Phones 4u. The company was sold to private equity firms Providence Equity Partners and Doughty Hanson & Co., in 2006. In March 2011, the group was acquired by equity group BC Partners. The 4u Group consists of four brands namely; Phones 4u, LIFE Mobile, Dialaphone, and Policy Administration Services.
Phones 4u offers smartphones and feature phones from all the main mobile phone manufacturers on both pay-as-you-go tariffs as well as on contract. Apart from selling handsets, Phones 4u also deals in mobile phone accessories, Innovative JUMP (Just Update My Phone), tablet computer devices and 4u WiFi.
