About Iceberg

Iceberg is owned by Gilmar S.p.A., the Italian family-controlled fashion group founded in 1959 by Giuliana Marchini and Silvano Gerani that also operates as Iceberg’s design, manufacturing, and distribution backbone. Headquartered in San Giovanni in Marignano near Rimini, Gilmar operates a vertically integrated production model with Italian manufacturing and family control through the second generation (Gerani family). Iceberg was launched in 1974 as a knitwear-focused fashion house and built a distinctive identity around printed and intarsia knit techniques, particularly pop-culture and graphic-driven motifs that became signature elements through the 1980s and 1990s.

The brand maintains a multi-line structure: Iceberg (mainline ready-to-wear for men and women), Ice Iceberg (sport-influenced contemporary), Ice Jeans (denim and casualwear), and Ice Ice Iceberg (children’s, ages 4 to 12). Creative direction has rotated through external talent over the past two decades, including Jean-Charles de Castelbajac (an original 1974 co-founder before launching his own brand), Alessandro Dell’Acqua, and James Long. The brand shows at Milan Fashion Week and maintains a presence at major luxury department stores including Harvey Nichols, Bergdorf Goodman, and Tsum.

Iceberg operates selectively through directly run flagships in major fashion capitals (Milan, Paris, New York) alongside international franchise locations and department store concessions. The brand prioritizes wholesale presence in luxury multi-brand retailers over expansive monobrand retail. For mall operators, Iceberg is a flagship-only counterparty in tier-1 luxury wings, with leasing decisions routed through Gilmar’s San Giovanni in Marignano commercial team. New direct retail openings are rare and selective rather than part of a broad expansion strategy.
