Scotch & Soda are aiming to build a network of stores in mainland China, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong.
According to Fashion United, the first of the stores is set to open in the Harbor City shopping center based in Hong Kong. The area already has stores, such as Ralph Lauren, Maje and Versace. The second Hong Kong Scotch & Soda store is set to open during October.
The brand has been in this market since 2008, through the Lane Crawford department stores.It entered the Chinese market during 2009 and is the top performing brand in Lane Crawford. According to ImagineX’s managing director, Thomson Cheng, the middle class in the region is experiencing a rise in income and is using this to obtain a personalized clothing range. They are also looking at purchasing the quality of this type of the Dutch brand.
The group is not only considering Asia, but is also looking to expand in the US, where it already has in excess of 10 stores, as well as an online store. In Great Britain, the group opened several stores last year and is now looking of moving outside of the London area.Scotch & Soda, which was founded in 1985, has been owned by Sun Capital Partners since 2011.
