Rainbow began with four stores in 1935 and grew to 300+ stores by 1999. Today, along with sister brands 5-7-9 and Marianne, Rainbow operates 1,300 stores in the United States, including 125 shops in Puerto Rico and ten stores in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Rainbow is known for providing the latest fashion trends at an affordable price. It offers a wide assortment of clothing for juniors, plus size, and children, as well as an extensive shoe collection. Rainbow has been a pioneer in well-fitting apparel for plus sizes and has more than 740 stores with a plus-size department, and 11 stand alone plus-size stores.

Rainbow stores are an average of 5,000 square ft. Each store’s merchandise varies by location, depending on demographics and the size of the place. Larger stores usually carry juniors, plus, lingerie, shoes and kids departments.
