Westfield World Trade Center Gets Closer to the Opening Date

A new development in the US that is getting closer to the grand opening date is the brand new Westfield World Trade Center.

This project is located in downtown New York and is penciled in for a fall 2015 opening date. At the moment it is still a busy construction site but the center is beginning to take shape now. Once completed Westfield World Trade Center will offer 350,000 square feet of retail space in the heart of Manhattan. This will make it the biggest mall in all of Manhattan, just as the Mall at the World Trade Center was before it was destroyed on 9/11. 

There will be space for 150 stores, with local, national and international retail brands here.  As well as names from the fashion world, it is also expect to be home to technology, culinary and lifestyle brands.  In fact, is has already been described as being New York’s most complete retail destination.   

An Authentic New York Style and Vibe

The goal is said to be to achieve a vibe and style in the center that it very New York. The Westfield World Trade Center will sit under a stunning model called The Oculus that was designed by world famous Spanish architect Santiago Caltrava. 

The Westfield leasing office is across the street from the current construction site, while the nearby and sparkling new One World Trade Center can be seen from the site. The work is being carried out by Westfield, who have been working closely with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey through the design and building periods.

Work began on the World Trade Center part of the new mall in 2007 and the project developers say that it goes above and beyond simply replacing the retail space that was lost on 9/11. There will be three levels of retail activity together with the WTC Transportation Hub and concourses that run through the whole of the World Trade Center.
