Sales of major brands continue to grow, despite the difficult economic situation.
The total revenues of the world's top 25 retailers increased by 7.1% to $3.5 trillion in 2022, according to a study by GlobalData. Experts note that sales of major brands continue to grow, despite the difficult economic situation.
After the pandemic, more and more consumers are shopping online, which provides additional growth in the market. Major online retailers such as Amazon, JD.com and Alibaba have seen a compound annual growth rate of more than 20 percent in revenues in recent years.
Alimentation Couche-Tard, Seven & i, Costco and CVS Health saw double-digit revenue growth from 2018 to 2022. Significant growth was seen in the home goods and pharmaceutical segments.
In particular, Alimentation Couche-Tard announced revenue growth of 37.3% and a CAGR of 5.1%. Seven & i recorded 35% revenue growth in 2022, Costco increased sales by 15.8%, and CVS Health increased sales by 10.4%.
Experts believe that the strong performance of some of the world's largest retailers is due, among other things, to rising sales prices for motor fuel and the positive impact of currency exchange rates.
